About GameBlast

Running since 2014, GameBlast is the UK’s biggest annual charity gaming marathon weekend in aid of SpecialEffect. It’s the perfect way to help change the lives of disabled gamers and have a blast at the same time.

It’s simple. Just organise your own gaming event sometime during the weekend of 26th -28th February.

What you do for your GameBlast live stream is your call! You can take part as an individual, a group of friends, a community or a company*. Many of you will take on a gaming marathon, but if speed runs, or table top games, or virtual pub quizzes are your thing, then welcome aboard! We’ll help you with information and resources every step of the way.

*Whatever you decide to do, please be sure to stay safe and follow current guidelines and advice regarding COVID-19 restrictions.

SpecialEffect are a UK-based charity who use video games and technology to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.

We’ll be using your GameBlast donations to help gamers with disabilities by finding out what they want to play, and exactly what they need to play it. Everyone’s abilities are different so we’ll match, modify or create custom gaming setups, and give lifelong support so they can continue to get the best out of it.

From modified gaming controllers to eye-control systems, every system we provide is personalised. Sometimes that might mean adding voice control or a chin joystick. Or we might get the drill and soldering iron out to adapt the button positions on a regular controller. There are hundreds of potential solutions, and it’s our job to find the right one.
